2013 application process begins!

February 28th 2013

Fourteen young people from Shetland are to have the trip of a lifetime in unique summer sailing adventures supported by Sail Training Shetland.  The application process is now open for young people between the age of 15-25 years old to apply for these unique adventures.

Ten placements are offered onboard Shetland’s own sail training vessel Swan to take part in Stordfest & Skudefestivalen from Stord to Skudesneshavn in Norway between Tuesday 25 June to Wednesday 10 July 2013.  Four placements are being offered on the newly built German Class A Tall Ship Alexander Von Humboldt II for Race 1 of The Tall Ships Races 2013 from Aarhus, Denmark to Helsinki, Finland between Thursday 4 July to Saturday 20 July 2013.

Interested individuals should return their completed application forms by 5pm Friday 22 March 2013. The selection process may involve a short sailing event onboard Swan during the weekend of 13/14 April.

Sail Training Shetland will meet the majority of costs for the lucky participants, including race entry fees and return travel fares from Shetland to the points of embarkation and disembarkation. Once selected, each trainee will need to make a contribution towards their costs, as well as any funds that they will need for personal expenses.
