Sail Training Shetland welcome new sponsor for 2026 scheme
Sail Training Shetland is delighted to welcome Boskalis Westminster Ltd. as a new sponsor for their 2026 programme.
Specialist contractor Boskalis Westminster Ltd. has been working on a major dredging campaign in Lerwick Harbour. The company always looks to support the local communities where they work and, with their marine speciality, supporting Sail Training Shetland’s experiences for young people was a great fit.
Paul Datson, Head of Business Sector - Capital and Coastal Projects at Boskalis Westminster said: “Boskalis Westminster is one of the most experienced dredging and marine contracting companies in the UK undertaking any type of dredging and marine construction work including coastal and seabed protection, rock and breakwater construction, environmental projects, marine drilling and blasting, marine pipeline installation and more and we are glad to be back working with Lerwick Port Authority following on from our previous deepening and reclamation project in 2008.
Wherever we work, we look to add value to the community and supporting Sail Training Shetland to provide young people with such a fantastic experience is an opportunity we couldn't resist! We hope they enjoy it and wish them Good Luck.”
With Sail Training Shetland entirely voluntary run it relies on a range of support and sponsorship to deliver its annual schemes. The committee would like to thank all its supporters and Boskalis Westminster Ltd. for their contribution to the 2026 scheme. Treasurer, Victor Sandison, said: “We give our thanks again to all at Boskalis Westminster Limited for their kind support towards our 2026 sail training activities – it’s very much appreciated. It’s not long now till our 2026 trainees will be heading off to take part in the Tall Ships Races, sailing between Norway and Denmark, and we can’t wait to hear how they get on.”
